Keeping track of your working time, vacations and more

Daily and weekly capacity

Your weekly capacity is defined in your current contract. There might also be an agreement about your work days and your off days. At Infound we don’t have any all-in contracts. There’s your work and there’s your personal life. We have no expectations for an immediate response past 6 pm, except for true emergencies, which should be very rare around here. We also don’t expect you to work during weekends, or on Sunday nights to prepare anything for Monday. Those boundaries are crucial for your health and the health of our company. When we’re well rested and recharged, we make better decisions and are better equipped to treat each other the right way.

As a group of curious makers and designers, we love to get to the bottom of things. We enjoy being fully immersed in a subject or a problem at hand. Going that deep, you may lose track of time every once in a while. Don’t bother too much. Enjoy the flow. Stay there as long as you can and make wonderful things.

Yet, also take care to pace yourself for the long run. Tomorrow is a new day. Next week is going to be a new week. Looking back, we have made the most progress whenever we kept our focus on one particular product or brand, not just overnight, but over a long period of time without compromising the basics of a healthy lifestyle. Have the wisdom to sleep, eat, connect, and unplug every day.

Why do we need to keep track of time and log all those entries? As a service agency, we always have a relatively large number of projects at the same time. Some are short, others run over multiple months or years. Most of us don’t have the luxury of staying focused on a single project all day or all week. We need our time tracking system to keep track of budgets, internal costs, and everybody’s weekly capacity.

Guidelines for tracking time

Please track everything to the right project, and always add a description to every time entry. We recommend you to install the Harvest desktop app or use their browser extension, for a nicely integrated way to start and stop timers throughout the day.

Time entry descriptions:

If you forgot to switch timers when you began working on a different project, or if you started a timer for a meeting on one project and then another project was discussed as well, simply create a second time entry afterward and split the time based on your best judgement.

Justified absence time

For everybody with an employment contract here in Austria, there’s an “Infound Internal” budget to keep track of your vacations, national holidays and sick-leaves.

To make sure everybody’s taking their well deserved vacations, we’re also encouraging everybody else to keep track of their vacations to that same internal budget.
