Pursuing less makes room for greater focus

Building products is all about tradeoffs. Without tradeoffs it is virtually impossible to find clarity. Instead of doing more, we challenge ourselves to focus on less.

When assessing the value of our product development work we try our best not to look at the amount of effort and investment we’ve poured into something, but the actual benefits our customers get out of it.

Letting go of an extensively engineered solution, or an idea we’ve worked on for a long time, is a tough call. Yet, only those hard cuts will make room for the new and better solution. It’s only through the disciplined pursuit of less, that we are enabled to commit to what’s next with greater focus.

While at first glance, this might not seem like the easiest way to go, in the long run life is much easier and more enjoyable when we keep things simple and clear.
